Fabric Pumpkin
Last year I bought actual pumpkins and carved them and then when it came to throw them out, they completely disintegrated on me. I ended up with pumpkin juices all down my work clothes! Not ideal! So this year, I decided I really wanted to try make some fabric pumpkins to avoid any pumpkin juice disasters!
These pumpkins were so easy to make and I basically just followed a tutorial on YouTube.
Needed; Fabric, stuffing, string or thick thread, brown felt, embroidery needle, glue gun.
The key I found with making the fabric pumpkins was to make sure I kept the template at an angle. The top and bottom of the line made on the template needs to measure 20cm away from the edge on the fabric, so that the stretchy part of the fabric is used. I previously made the mistake of not doing this and it gave the pumpkins a funny shape!
Cutting out the material, I then folded the material in half and sewed the top two raw edges together.
I then made a gathering stitch at the bottom, which I then pulled together to gather all the material. I then sewed the gathering to make sure there was no gap. I then stuffed the pumpkin.
Once stuffed, I did another gathering stitch at the top and again pulled it all together.
I then used an embroidery needle to stitch the string around the pumpkin.
The final part involved cutting out some felt and gluing this on top!
I'm very happy with how these pumpkins turned out. I'd recommend giving them ago, especially if you are a beginner like me!
